Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, has decried the dearth of medical personnel managing the novel coronavirus in the country, and called for a better deployment of more professional doctors and other health workers to COVID-19 treatment centres to assist in the management of the upsurge of patients.

Umahi made this known while delivering valuable palliatives and personal protective equipment, (PPE), to doctors and health workers managing  COVID-19 patients at the Unity Square Treatment Centre, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
The governor represented by the Special Assistant on Vocational Education, Ms Adaeze Nwaji said that the state government is poised to ensure that the lives of its citizens, especially the doctors and health workers are properly protected.
Umahi lauded the doctors for their efforts and doggedness, especially in taken the risk to ensure that those at the treatment centres who have either tested positive or negative are taken care of.
Recall that, one COVID-19 patient who was treated by the doctors has been discharged by the state government at the same Unity Square Treatment Centre.
