MR. Joseph Oluwabamiwo Aloba, the father of the late popular musician, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, (Aka. Mohbad) has written to the Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun and the Attorney General of Lagos State and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN to identify all the people indicted by the Coroner’s inquest in order to investigate and prosecute them according to law in the interest of justice.

In the letters sent to both public officers, prepared and signed by Mohbad’s father’s lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN, they are demanding from the AG Lagos to institute criminal proceeding against the persons indicted in the Verdict of the Coroner’s inquest delivered on the 11th of July, 2025, byHis Honour, Magistrate Taofikat Adeayo Shotobi.

To IGP Egbetokun, the deceased son’s father is calling on him to also order for a comprehensive investigation of the persons indicted by the Inquest and based on the findings arising from the proceedings order for immediate interrogation of the suspects, and where a prima facie case arising from such investigation is established, then he should direct the appropriate authority to institute prosecution accordingly in order to give full effect to the Coroner’s recommendations, and ensure that justice is manifestly and adequately served in the matter.

Among those indicted by the Coroner’s inquest that are being requested to be investigated and prosecuted are: Azeez Fashola (A.k.a Naira Marley), Samson Balogun (A.k.a Sam Larry), Miss Ogendegbe Fisayo, Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba and Ibrahim Owodunni A.k.a Prime Boy.

In the Coroner’s verdict the aforementioned names were indicted for the various roles they played in the death of the musician. They include: Miss Ogendegbe Fisayo, indicted for unlawful medical practice and gross medical negligence; and Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba, indicted for negligence in the circumstances surrounding the medical treatment sought for the deceased, and others in the apartment of the deceased at the time of death who either facilitated the invitation of the auxiliary nurse or refuse to take him promptly to recognized medical facility for treatment. This includes Ibrahim Owodunni A.k.a Prime Boy.

Giving further explanations from the verdict, the father’s lawyer, Dr Shittu, SAN said that though the affected individuals have been indicted by the Coroner, no prosecutorial steps have been taken by concerned authorities against the aforementioned persons since the delivery of the Verdict on 11th July, 2025.

Going by the verdict, Shittu further clarified, “Miss Ogedengbe Feyisayo, was summoned by a witness summons. According to her account, she observed swelling onMohbad’s right arm. Without conducting any formal diagnostic assessment, she proceeded to administer three injections in succession: tetanus injection—intramuscularly into the upper left arm; paracetamol—for pain relief; and ceftriaxone—a broad spectrum antibiotic…. She is not a certified registered nurse, nor a licensed doctor or pharmacist. She administered injections without conducting a medical diagnosis.”

Consequently, at page 72 of the Verdict, His Honour expressly recommended that “Feyisayo be prosecuted for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence.”

Further, at page 69, His Honour made findings concerning Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba as follows: “First, the deceased was treated at home by an uncertified auxiliary nurse, whose competence and training were later brought into question. As the closest person to the deceased, and given his status as a public figure, the decision to seek home treatment—especially by someone whose credentials were unclear—appears negligent, even if driven by fear or preference from the deceased.

Secondly, Omowunmi was a direct eyewitness to the medical emergency but did not insist on calling emergency services or ensuring proper ambulance care…”

Shittu continue: “In our respectful view, the above judicial observations amount to clear indictments warranting the prosecution of the said individuals in order to give full effect to the Coroner’s findings and recommendations, and to ensure that justice is manifestly and adequately served in this matter.

“In the alternative, should your honourable office, for any reason, not be minded to prosecute the above persons within the demanded period, we respectfully request that a fiat be graciously granted to us within such period, in accordance with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, to prosecute the matter on behalf of the State.

“We request that you exercise your prosecutorial power on the above subject matter within 14 Days next, in view of the high sensitivity of this matter and the public attention and outrage it has generated.

“We trust in the high sense of justice and responsibility that has consistently guided your honourable office and remain confident that this request will receive due and urgent consideration, Dr. Shittu declared.

On Naira Marley, Sam Larry and others the letter to the IGP states: “According to the witness testimonies, Mohbad has been involved in multiple incidents of assault and psychological stress in the months leading to his death. On 25th June 2023, the deceased was alleged to have been assaulted at Elegushi Beach during a music video shoot, an incident which prompted a formal report to a police station at the Lagos Island (Name not mentioned) by DJ Bami and Darosha and alleged threat to life, assault, and destruction of property. No arrest or prosecution was made at that time. Further testimonies presented before the court revealed that the deceased also had ongoing disputes with former record label, Malian Music (Azeez Fashola (A.K.A Naira Marley) IW12 and Samson Balogun Eletu (A.K.A) Sam Larry) IW15. Witnesses testified to the Deceased growing sense of fear, mistrust, and public isolation…”

In conclusion, the Learned Silk implored the IGP saying: “We trust in the high sense of justice and responsibility that has consistently guided your honourable office and remain confident that this request will receive due and urgent consideration”.
