Odigie-Oyegun boycotts APC congress in Edo, as exercise ended in peaceful note

As the All Progressives Congress ward election ended in a peaceful note in Edo State, the party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun distanced himself from the exercise as he  chose to boycott the congress.In Ward 2 in Oredo Local Government Area, where  Odigie-Oyegun was expected to vote, he was no where to be found during the exercise which was conducted by the Minister of State, Health,Dr.Osagie Ehanire and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Member representing Oredo West in the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Chris Okaiben at the weekend, described the APC congress across the ward as peaceful and orderly.
 Okaiben stated this while briefing newsmen on the exercise in Benin City.
The lawmaker who commended the state governor, Mr Governor Obaseki for the peaceful congress, said it was an innovation to be reckoned with, unlike in the past when such exercise was characterized by violence and heinous acts.
Also speaking on the exercise was a  member representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency, Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma.
He said the leaders of the party have done their best in making the ward congress election a peaceful exercise adding that with the choice of persons elected into various positions of the party, it is certain that the party is in for good.
Agbonayinma however called on the elected leaders of the party at  the ward level to be all inclusive and shun every form of divide and rule tendency.
Speaking on the preparedness of the ruling All Progressives  Congress in winning the state election in 2019, he said the present developmental strides  of the governor will speak for him.
He said the people are abreast of  the realities on ground and not what is on the pages of the newspapers.
“Even a blind man can see what is happening today. The people will vote for what they see and not what is on paper. The good work of the governor will speak for him”, he said.
The newly elected leader of ward 6, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Charles Adenomon Otasowie who also described the exercise as a peaceful one said the ward has 54 units adding that it is the largest in Edo South.
‎Generally,the congresses were peaceful across the 192 Wards of Edo after the state harmonized the list of aspirants to ensure a peaceful exercise.
